The Archer was a British tank destroyer used in World War II, built on the Valentine tank chassis and armed with a powerful 17-pounder (76.2mm) anti-tank gun. Its unique rear-facing gun mount allowed for quick withdrawal after firing but made mobility awkward. Deployed in Northwest Europe and Italy, the Archer was highly effective against German heavy tanks like the Panther and Tiger due to its excellent penetration power.
