Matilda II Mk.IV (3D Printed)
The Matilda II Mk.IV was a British infantry tank extensively used during the early years of World War II, particularly noted for its role in the North African Campaign. Introduced in 1940, the Matilda II was characterized by its heavy armor, with up to 78mm of protection on the front, making it nearly impervious to the anti-tank weapons of the time. The Mk.IV variant was equipped with a 2-pounder (40mm) gun, effective against most early-war German and Italian armor. However, it lacked high-explosive ammunition, limiting its effectiveness against infantry and fortifications. The Matilda II's relatively slow speed, around 15 mph (24 km/h), was compensated by its excellent reliability and the ability to traverse rough terrain. Despite its slow speed and limited armament, the Matilda II Mk.IV proved to be a formidable opponent during battles such as the Siege of Tobruk and the Second Battle of El Alamein, contributing significantly to the Allies' eventual success in North Africa.
