British - Airborne 1944 - Piat Team

The British Airborne PIAT Team provided paratroopers and glider-borne troops with a portable weapon capable of tackling enemy armour and fortified positions during the campaigns of 1944. The Projector, Infantry, Anti Tank (PIAT) fired a powerful shaped-charge bomb and, unlike a conventional rocket launcher, produced little smoke or backblast—an advantage when firing from concealed positions. Normally operated by a small team, PIATs accompanied British airborne forces during operations including Normandy and Operation Market Garden, where their ability to engage German tanks and self-propelled guns at close range could prove vital. Compact enough to be carried into battle by airborne troops, the PIAT also proved effective against bunkers, buildings and other strongpoints.
