Product information
The Scammell Pioneer was a British heavy recovery and transport vehicle used extensively during World War II, known for its rugged design and off-road capability. Designed as an artillery tractor, tank transporter, and recovery vehicle, it played a crucial role in towing disabled and heavy tanks, including the Churchill VII. Equipped with a 6x4 wheel drive, a powerful Gardner diesel engine, and a 15-ton winch, the Pioneer could navigate rough terrain, making it ideal for battlefield recovery and logistics operations. It was widely used by British and Commonwealth forces in North Africa, Italy, and Northwest Europe, ensuring damaged or broken-down tanks were quickly retrieved and repaired.
When paired with a specialized trailer, the Scammell Pioneer could transport heavy tanks like the Churchill VII, a formidable British infantry tank with 152mm of frontal armor and a 75mm gun. The Churchill VII was essential for breakthrough and infantry support missions, often requiring transport over long distances due to its slow speed. The combination of the Scammell Pioneer and its trailer allowed armored units to relocate, recover, and redeploy Churchill tanks efficiently, playing a crucial role in maintaining the mobility and effectiveness of British armored forces during the war.
This is a multi part model complete turret, 4 wheels, 2 hatches, and a turret.
