European Partizans - German Activists

The European Partisans – German Activists represent German anti-Nazi resistance members who opposed Hitler’s regime during the Second World War. Although resistance within Germany never developed into a mass partisan movement comparable to those in some occupied countries, individuals and small groups carried out activities including distributing illegal literature, gathering intelligence, helping persecuted people escape, sabotage and maintaining underground networks. Resistance came from a diverse range of backgrounds, including workers, students, former soldiers and political opponents of the Nazi regime. Operating under constant threat from the Gestapo, arrest and execution, these activists represent the often clandestine and extremely dangerous struggle against Nazi rule from within Germany itself.
