European Partizans - Resistance

The European Resistance represents the diverse underground movements that fought against German occupation across Europe during the Second World War. Made up of civilians, escaped soldiers, political activists and former military personnel, resistance groups carried out sabotage, ambushes, intelligence gathering, raids and attacks on enemy supply and communication networks. Their equipment varied enormously, ranging from civilian and pre-war firearms to captured German weapons and arms supplied by the Allies. From the French Maquis and Italian Partisans to resistance movements in Poland, Greece, Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe, these fighters played an important role in disrupting Axis operations and supporting the Allied advance toward the liberation of Europe.
