European Partizans - Volkssturm Male Fighters

The Volkssturm Male Fighters represent the hastily raised German militia formed during the desperate final months of the Second World War. Established in October 1944, the Volkssturm drew largely upon men aged 16 to 60 who were not already serving in the armed forces, including older veterans and civilians with limited military training. Equipment varied enormously, with fighters using Karabiner 98k rifles, Panzerfaust anti-tank weapons, captured firearms and other weapons available from dwindling stocks. Volkssturm units fought in the defence of German towns and cities during 1944–45, most famously during the Battle of Berlin, where their improvised appearance and mixed equipment reflected the increasingly desperate circumstances of the final defence of Nazi Germany.
